The Committee for the Protection of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities is a ten-member council and employs staff to support persons with intellectual disabilities to support their rights in accordance with the United Nations Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, ratified by the Law 8(III) 2011.

Cyprus Confederation of Disabled Organizations (CYSOA)

We welcome you to the website of the Cyprus Confederation of Disabled Organizations (CYSOA). Our Confederation exists and operates successfully since 1984 when it was founded in Cyprus. KYSOA today officially holds the position of Social Partner in the issues that directly or indirectly concern people with disabilities and fights for the promotion of measures that contribute to their full participation in the social, economic, political and cultural life of the country.

The Pancypriot Multiple Sclerosis Association was founded on March 6, 1986, with Thea Kyprianou as a pioneer in this difficult struggle. The main purpose of the Association is to offer help to people with Multiple Sclerosis and their families.

In addition to providing treatment, preventive, and educational programmes, the Foundation aims to empower communities by overcoming the burden and devastating impact of blindness on everyday lives.

Turkish Disabled Association

The TURKISH DISABLED ASSOCIATION was founded in 1958 by Nafi Tuna, Cenani Çalışan and a few friends who spent their days at the Ali Paşa Cafe in the neighborhood opposite the Cerrahpaşa Hospital, and it continued for two years under the name of the Paralyzed Association. The one-story building between the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and the Çapa Teachers’ School was allocated to the association by the then Istanbul Governor, Vefa Poyraz, and after the association moved there, the instructors of the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Orthopaedics Clinic also got involved and made the association more comprehensive and more comprehensive. The general assembly in 1960 changed the name of the association to the TURKISH DISABLED ASSOCIATION and appealed to a wider audience. In the meantime, the Istanbul society of the time, retired pashas, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine Professors and Doctors made contributions, middle school and high school students wore piggy banks around their necks and badges were put on the collars of citizens on the ferry docks in the streets, and campaigns were organized to introduce the association and to generate income for the association.

As the Turkish Disabled Sports Aid and Education Foundation, we closely follow the existing problems of our disabled individuals in many areas, we try to find solutions to their problems and make their voices heard. Our sensitive, sharing, benevolent and helpful Turkish people have significant support in our work. Tesyev continues to meet the needs of our disabled citizens, whose numbers are increasing every day, in the fields of education, health and sports, so that they can share life as self-confident individuals.

Turkish Muscle Diseases Association

Turkish Muscle Diseases Association Is the first non-governmental organization that has been active in this field since 1978, where disabled individuals with muscular diseases and their relatives can access all fundamental human rights protected by international agreements and that continues its work to raise awareness in the field of disability. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Coşkun Özdemir and supporting its establishment, there are Dr. Bahattin Yardımcı, Dr. Yıldırım Aktuna, Fahri Özden, Nilgün Kuran, Dr. Halil A. İdrisoğlu, Prof. Dr. Hüsrev Hatemi, Hasan Bilecikli, Havva Arslan and Prof. Dr. Hıfzı Özcan.
