Are you keen to start your career in production by learning the skills you'll need to be successful?

The Production Apprenticeship Scheme helps you to gain experience with our BBC production teams across the UK, making world-class content for our audiences on radio, TV or digital platforms. You'll learn on-the-job as part of a BBC production team, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you, while working towards your Production apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.

What will you be doing?

  • As a Production Apprentice, depending on your chosen placement area, you could be helping to come up with ideas and stories for content, providing logistical support to productions or learning how to use technical equipment and specialist software.
  • Get BBC Academy training, delivered by experienced trainers. You'll learn a range of skills that will help you make content for programmes.
  • And you'll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job.


Where could the role take you?

This scheme starts in September 2024 and runs for 18 months. After the scheme, you'll be able to apply for entry level roles in TV, radio, digital and in technical areas across the industry. Examples include Runner, Junior Researcher, Content Assistant or Edit Assistant, Technical Operator (depending on your chosen pathway).

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be eligible for an apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2024
  • Be legally allowed to work in the UK full time
  • Have been resident in either the UK or EEA since September 2021 (Not applicable for Scotland & Wales or individuals under the statuses within EP350 such as Homes for Ukraine)
  • You may not be eligible to take this Level 3 apprenticeship if you have already completed a similar apprenticeship, already hold or are working towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a Media-related subject.

  • A starting salary of £20,475

The journey starts with BBC Introducing shows across the UK on BBC local radio, then onto Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6Music, The Asian Network and Radio 3. If you're a music lover, have a huge passion for radio & go to gigs in your music scene regularly then this is for you. Roles vary from script-writing & research, audio editing, listening to new music & assisting with the show in the studio. You will have a set base and will work remotely towards a neighbouring show from this base.
