What are Aladdin and Aladdin Engineering?
- You will be working on BlackRock's investment operating system called Aladdin. Aladdin is used both internally within BlackRock and externally by many financial institutions. Aladdin combines sophisticated risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management, trading, and operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making and create a connective tissue for thousands of users investing worldwide.
- Our Quality Assurance teams reside inside the Aladdin Engineering group. We collaboratively build the next generation of technology that changes the way information, people, and technology intersect for global investment firms. We build and package tools that manage trillions in assets and supports millions of financial instruments. We perform risk calculations and process millions of transactions for thousands of users every day worldwide!
AQE (Aladdin Quality Engineering) is a globally distributed team supporting Quality Engineering initiatives for Apps on Aladdin. AQE employs use of industry-leading tools (Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, Jenkins, Azure dev ops) to support the testing activities. As a QA Engineer you will work as part of the Global testing team supporting Quality Engineering activities for applications on the Aladdin platform.
Responsibilities include:
- Spearhead the comprehensive Quality assurance program for a Core Aladdin functional area (for e.g., Investment Compliance)
- Define the vision and establish priorities for the Quality function, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Hold ultimate authority and responsibility for all Quality related decisions.
- Instill an automation mindset within the team, emphasizing the importance of automation in testing processes to optimize automation effectiveness.
- Lead efforts in performance testing, ensuring applications meet performance standards and identifying areas of improvement.
- Proactively engage in identifying, sharing and adopting best practices among QA teams. Implements and supports processes for continuous improvements across all Quality-related areas.
- Lead and oversee a team of QA engineers, offering guidance, mentorship and performance evaluations. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team.
- Collaborate closely with peers, product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to comprehend client requirements, contribute to design decisions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization, advocating for awareness and adherence to Quality standards.
- Uphold responsibility for nurturing a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion within the team and broader organization.
- B.Tech / M.Tech degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject area
For Director Level: 15+ years of proven experience
- A seasoned professional with 15 years of extensive experience in senior QA role within the financial services industry, ideally in asset management or a related field. Possesses a profound comprehension of investment management processes, risk management methodologies, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency in leading and implementing QA program medium to large scale cross functional strategic initiatives that foster continuous improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of software quality assurance and engineering practices, methodologies, and industry best practices. Proficient in Agile software development methodologies.
- Expertise in test automation frameworks, tools, and scripting languages coupled with robust analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle intricate challenges effectively.
- Solid foundation in relational database management systems (RDBMS), SQL and application infrastructure technologies. Proficient in performance testing tools & methodologies such as JMeter or equivalents, as well as API testing for managing complex distributed systems.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, enabling effective collaboration and influence across diverse teams.
- A self-motivated individual who thrives on challenges, actively seeking out opportunities to delve into core issues. Collaborates closely with stakeholders at all levels and across teams to devise and implement effective solutions.
- Experience of working in Agile Development Team
- AZURE Dev Ops, CI/CD integration and associated tools and processes
- Cucumber and BDD
- Cloud based testing.
