RS Group is currently seeking a Head of Site Performance to join our team permanently. As the Head of Site Performance, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that RS Group delivers exceptional digital customer experiences related to site stability, speed and performance, positioning our organization for success in a dynamic marketplace to win with search engines and grow customer lifetime value.

RS Group is currently seeking a Head of Site Performance to join our team permanently. As the Head of Site Performance, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that RS Group delivers exceptional digital customer experiences related to site stability, speed and performance, positioning our organization for success in a dynamic marketplace to win with search engines and grow customer lifetime value.
What you'll be doing:
- Set global best practice and standards for proactively managing platform site performance stability, consistency & optimisation.
- Lead strategic alignment between technology and specialist product teams to optimize digital experience performance such as site speed metrics, error handling, application performance etc.
- Advocate for the customer & commercial performance by evaluating technical changes that may impact site performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product owners, martech, UX researchers and designers, SEO teams and marketers, to prioritize and implement changes that enhance technical performance.
- Utilize insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in online experience speed and stability.
- Ensure alerting & monitoring practices and systems are in place and fit for purpose.
- Partner with our experimentation practice to measure the effectiveness of performance improvement initiatives and recommend optimization strategies based on data.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to drive ongoing improvement and innovation in site performance optimization.
- Collaborate with Search Engine Optimization teams to ensure a roadmap of improvements to stay abreast of search engine ranking factors and best practices.
- Ensure best practice is followed for timely and effective handling of incidents affecting digital performance and customer experience by product and engineering teams.
- Ensure commerce site compliance related to security and privacy standards.
- Provide stakeholders with visibility into metrics associated with an exceptional onsite experience.
- Facilitate regular and engaging communication with stakeholders.
About you:
As the Head of Site Performance, you will have the opportunity to bridge product, technology, and marketing to create high-performing digital experiences.
Key skills required for this role include:
- Demonstrated experience in developing or scaling businesses through eCommerce channels.
- Senior-level experience in eCommerce with hands-on execution capability.
- Knowledge of digital sales and procurement models, including SEO, PPC, and conversion optimization.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional structure, leading diverse teams to develop and execute plans.
- Experience in digital consumer B2C or B2B environments is preferred.
- Proficiency in synthetic site monitoring platforms such as Datadog and New Relic.
- Strong understanding & experience of optimising search engine ranking factors and core web vitals.
- Experience of eCommerce incident management workflows & processes.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Curiosity and problem-solving skills to address challenges effectively.
- Technical knowledge of eCommerce site architecture including server & client side tagging practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical specialists and non-technical business users.
- Highly competent with systems such as Jira, Adobe Analytics, PowerBI.
- Familiarity with commerce platforms such as Adobe and Content Management platforms like Contentful.
