Finisher/Welder Apprenticeship
Pascagoula, MS
Our Apprenticeship Program combines on the job training with related instruction at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; it provides a genuine alternative to a traditional college experience and the foundation for a career in Finishing/Welding/Non-Destructive Testing.
The program offers the training, guidance, and support you need to develop valuable skills, earn sought-after qualifications and establish yourself in your chosen career. You will start in a 1 year program and if successful, will be invited to complete an additional two years.

Run in partnership with the US Department of Labor and Industry and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, our Apprenticeship Program lasts three years and enables you to earn a nationally recognized Certificate of Completion and obtain a Journey Worker card.

Key Accountabilities:
- Comply with all safety rules and company standards (e.g. Health, Safety, Environment, Rolls-Royce Quality Management System, and Rolls-Royce Production System).
- Perform surface grinding using a variety of grinding equipment
- Perform finishing operations on new and overhauled hubs, minor cosmetic weld repairs, and perform Liquid Penetrant inspection.
- Extract information from drawings then prepare and implement tool and fixture changes
- Participate in process improvement activities in order to satisfy customer needs and cost reduction targets
- Maintain tooling equipment and cleanliness of assigned work areas
- Safely operate cranes, fork lifts, grinders and other material handling equipment to move or re-position components
- Must be able to lift and move equipment of varying weights, with a minimum of 40 pounds and be able to manipulate and operate measurement tooling, machine controls, parts and equipment to perform job duties and responsibilities.
Basic Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED with a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Basic knowledge of product manufacturing, inspection and Microsoft packages
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential Security clearance, which requires US Citizenship
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience or education in welding, finishing and/or liquid penetrant inspection
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
