About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Outerwear and Tailoring Designer to join our Design department. This opportunity is a 9-month contract covering maternity and will see you cover the full breath of the Outerwear and Tailoring range including suits and tailored separates.
The Senior Outerwear and Tailoring Designer will lead the department to design and deliver a cohesive product range. In this role you will report into the Head of Design and work collaboratively with the Junior Designer and our Buying and Merchandising team to build seasonal collections which are both creative and commercial.

About You
We are looking for a Senior Outerwear and Tailoring Designer who can demonstrate relevant commercial and technical experience working with a print studio, supplier or another fashion/retail business in a similar role. Expertise within Outerwear and Tailoring is key for success in this role.
We would need you to demonstrate excellent hand drawing skills alongside digital skills including the fluent use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and a Wacom creative tablet. Strong communication skills with an appetite to embrace a blended approach of working across our Hobbs brand is also important, as is a strong sense of silhouette and creative flair.

The Senior Outerwear and Tailoring Designer will lead the department to design and deliver a cohesive product range. In this role you will report into the Head of Design and work collaboratively with the Junior Designer and our Buying and Merchandising team to build seasonal collections which are both creative and commercial.
Key accountabilities include;
- Working in close tandem with the wider Design team to create seasonal moodboards and colour palettes, compiling key shape and key item packs at the start of the season
- Representing the Hobbs brand in sign off and at business presentations in line with the critical path, frequently presenting to the Brand Directors and Heads of Departments
- Partnering with the Fabric Manager to source inspirational swatches, fabrics and trims during the creation of collections
- Working closely with the Buying and Technical teams to ensure fit and quality is maintained to brand standards for Outerwear and Tailoring
- Designing specific capsule collections depending on the strategy for Limited Edition
- Coaching the Junior Designer on the department, celebrating their success and leading professionally
