Project: This is an opportunity to join a growing multidisciplinary framework team working with the Ministry of Justice London and the East of England. The focus of our work is on the delivery of capital refurbishments and upgrades across the MoJ's estate including prisons, courts and probation.
Due to our continued growth with the Ministry of Justice, we require a project manager. This role will be expected to provide project management and leadership across all stages to deliver the project against cost, time and quality requirements. This role sits in our consultancy business, specifically the justice and blue light sector.
This position will suit those looking to work on a part-time basis and further their careers with a role on a major project or programme. In addition to achieving the client's own transformational estate objectives, the project's priorities include health safety and wellbeing, BIM and digital construction, sustainability, government soft landings, social value creation, people and skill development and collaboration. This programme is being used as a catalyst for several industry-wide innovations and would suit candidates interested in supporting and championing these causes.
This is a client-facing role, responsible for working together with team members, developing the clients' strategy, to assisting in the appointment of the extended professional team of local consultants and contractors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and managing effective communication and liaison with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure that requirements are identified, assessed and appropriately integrated into the project.
- Working with the client and reporting to the project lead responsible for helping to establish the strategy and delivery for the project.
- Assisting in developing the client's brief, and delivery strategy and leading the design management, procurement and execution of the scheme.
- Coordinating, planning and managing internal and external meetings in relation to the project.
- Driving the procurement of services and works required to deliver the project.
- Understanding of budgets, estimates and ability to review and challenge contractors' proposals.
- Providing input into client system safety and project risk assessment and management process.
- Understanding of the design process throughout all stages of the project lifecycle and able to manage technical aspects as they arise.
- Managing pre-contract design development and post-contract scope changes in an efficient manner.
- Producing strategic project programme and having the ability to scrutinise and integrate programmes from consultants and contractors.
- Understanding of risk management and able to work with project teams to identify, schedule and establish mitigation strategies for project risks.
You have a degree qualification in a relevant discipline and are a member of a professional body institute such as RICS, CIOB or APM. You have experience in contract administration and using various forms of contract NEC will be preferable.
You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and work well as part of a team. You will have experience in delivering projects in a consultancy environment, keen to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
