Summary
The Food Data and Analytics team is a newly formed team in Food to help put data and analytics at the heart of what we do. You'll be a senior member of the team, supporting the Head and Data and Analytics and acting as a key member of the team.

We're looking for someone to come and lead the data quality and governance team within M&S Foods. You'll be handling a mix of reporting, analytics and reporting to fix the data at source, apply advanced analytics to improve data, and ensure the business is maintaining high quality data standards. In addition, you'll support with governance to ensure we are working on the most impactful projects, measured in the most accurate way.

What you'll do

Your key accountabilities will include
  • Shape and launch a new data governance model including prioritisation, data ownership, and on-going reporting of data quality.
  • Build up a deep understanding of different tools and processes within M&S Food to ensure we're improving data across a combination of analytical datasets, customer facing propositions, operational processes, all aligned to the overall Food strategy.
  • Create the team strategy and work plan to ensure we are making the biggest impact downstream and driving our overall long-term strategy; this will involve working closely with the data and technology team to productionise any changes we propose.
  • Lead a mixed skill set team of analytics, BI reporting, and data science, helping develop individuals and bringing thought leadership into the space.
  • Be hands on technically to drive the team forward from a technical perspective, but also happy to lead your own projects.
Who you are

Your skills and experience will include
  • Understand the importance of data quality, both from a technical point of view, but also the commercial impact of improving a variety of data. This could include a mix of customer, financial, operational and pricing or promotional data.
  • Excellent relationship building skills to help to drive the adoption of good data management practice across the business.
  • Strong team management skills and experience of building a high performing team, with good organisation skills to manage simultaneous projects across various stakeholders.
  • Capability to use both simple and complex statistical models across programming software (SQL - required and either Python, R)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate insights, and influence at all levels.
