You'll be responsible for:
- Leading responsible business in Mace Construct to deliver the engine's strategy, commercial objectives, and all engine KPIs.
- Delivering the engine's market strategy and plan in the function, and having extensive knowledge of the market, competitors, consultants and supply chain
- Effectively and efficiently delivering responsible business services across all projects within the engine to agreed quality, scope, time and budget.
- Collaborating with the business units, project teams, technical functions, and work-winning team to support work winning, as well as identify future growth opportunities for the benefit of the construct engine and Mace.
- Setting and assuring standards and processes across the engine, delivering purpose-led and measurable outcomes for clients
- Overseeing effective compliance and governance within the CoE, aligned to group policies, procedures and other governance frameworks.
- Ownership of sustainability and social value data monitoring and reporting to inform corporate/external reporting (eg board reports, annual ESG data, RE100 and CDP submissions).
- Identifying, coaching and mentoring talent; supporting professional and career development, while building capability in the regional hub
- Owning the operational resource requirements, understanding current and future workforce capability needs and owning the strategic resource plan. The post holder will ensure the correct leadership team is in place and oversee effective recruitment activity to support growth and inclusion.
- Being visible internally and externally, representing the company and clients in a public forum, attending internal and external events to representing and protecting our brand and reputation of the Mace group.
- Leading by example in tackling Mace and industry challenges; inspires and organises internal teams, reflecting the communities we serve, and external partners to work together and see challenges as catalysts for breakthrough innovation and success.
- Developing and maintaining effective and productive relationships and representing Mace and engine with stakeholders and future strategic partners, including clients, the supply chain, and relevant government bodies. This will support growth, negotiated work, delivery, innovation, and adding value to the company.
- Championing the engine's contribution to the delivery of the Mace 2026 business strategy priorities and corporate targets, in particular our pursuit of a sustainable world to maximise our carbon handprint and help our clients save 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions, generate £1.3bn of social value, and create 500ha of new biodiverse space.
- Mastery in delivery of sustainability in construction, and an understanding of social value services.
- Ability to manage and influence key senior internal (C-Suite) and external stakeholders and provides leadership and guidance to the operational portfolio.
- Curiosity, able to respond to new and changing market demands and opportunities, bring new ideas, drive continuous improvement, and deliver industry leadership.
- Ability to lead the strategic direction of a business from both an internal and external perspective.
- Ability to work on short- and long-term strategic plans, promoting sustainable and innovative solutions, knowledge capture and best practices in service delivery.
- Ability to navigate and manage across a matrix organisation, navigating politics and cultural sensitivities.
- Strong people leadership skills, able to engage, motivate and coach others at all levels, role modelling inspirational and inclusive leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, effectively communicating at C-Suite and all levels in the organisation.
- Agility and comfort with change, able to navigate and respond to the fast-paced evolution of the discipline.
