- You will manage delivery from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
- You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of the associate director and other senior leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.
- Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements and establish a robust baseline plan.
- Engage with and lead stakeholder relationships including internal and external parties, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- Establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with organisational practice. Managing project reviews at appropriate points throughout the project lifecycle which will inform governance decisions of projects by providing evaluations of progress, performance, risk, contingency and continuing relevance.
- Accountable for managing the safe and effective delivery of all projects from low complexity single discipline through to high complexity multi-disciplinary projects to meet client requirements to time, cost, quality, and performance.
- Understanding the need, problem or opportunity that the project will address, clearly demonstrating the benefits being delivered through the programme/project life cycle.
- Manage safety and performance of the project for NR, within own team and own role, challenge and feedback to others on their safety performance and behaviours.
- Initiating the project - check feasibility and work out budgets, teams and resources.
- Work collaboratively with sponsor/client to determine the business case, success criteria and benefits of the proposed project.
- Developing and agreeing strategies and contracts for the provision of services, monitoring compliance and managing variances for your projects.
- Consolidating and documenting the fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements).
- Will provide a detailed response to the sponsors Instruction or Remit, clearly defining what resources tools and techniques will be utilised to deliver the defined outputs, typically stated in terms of scope, time, cost and quality.
- Managing the project's budget, monitoring expenditures and costs remaining within acceptable tolerances in forecasting and authority.
- Understand the value of the programme/project beyond the financial impact, coordinating multi-discipline teams to agreed and achievable objectives.
- Managing key dependencies and critical interfaces across related workstreams.
- Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the project - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the project and interfaces with other projects, and corporate/industry standards, passengers' requirements.
- Understand and integrate the Regions' passenger and freight impacts from delivering infrastructure projects in regionally diverse locations.
- Identifying and monitoring project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect the project.
- Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice.
- Using appropriate mechanisms, tools and techniques.
- Sharing of good practice and open to share lessons that need to be learnt.
- Supporting and running collaborative knowledge-sharing events and interventions.
- You will manage project budgets and highlight any risks, challenges and mitigations.
- You will support the long-term development of your function or Business Unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
- You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.
- You will manage design and wider consultant teams in a collaborative manner to ensure effective completion of responsibilities.
- You will lead and manage the project team and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
- You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all levels. This should include customers; 3rd party representatives, other business & functional leaders and key support personnel.
- Successful relevant experience in a complex project environment including demonstrable experience in team management, planning, contracting and delivery of projects.
- Successful record of project budget management and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).
- Experience in managing ambiguity in a project environment with strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrable project safety management practice and knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Experience with safety cases in support of projects.
- Experience in managing collaboratively, efficiently and quickly dealing with changes using NEC3 to minimise the impact on the overall cost and programme.
- Demonstrable experience in the rail Industry Sector (including application of GRIP, construction design management (CDM) and the common safety method (CSM).
- Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
- Property or infrastructure project management expertise.
- Commercial and financial acumen.
- Experience of leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams.
- Experience of developing and forming relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
