Engineering Manager

Location: Letchmoore, Margam, Dartford, Birmingham

Can you oversee and support the Design Coordination and Management responsibility of the Specialist Consulting Team? We need you to take responsible for the management of the project digital engineering and execution processes ensuring processes are fit for purpose and agreed by all parties.

Are you ready to have overall responsibility for the Management of the technical aspects of the Key Supplier Subcontracts? (scope, technical queries, non-conformances, technical change, technical risk)

You will actively engage and assist the commercial team to manage and control commercial change resulting from technical change and/or omissions.

What skills & experience are we looking for?
  • Develop the Design Execution Plan and DFMA strategy with the design coordinator
  • Develop the project Digital Engineering Strategy and processes with the design coordinator
  • Be responsible for the management of the project digital engineering and execution processes ensuring processes are fit for purpose and agreed by all parties
  • Active engagement of engineering teams to develop and maintain an integrated design, procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning programme.
  • Actively engage and assist the commercial team to manage and control commercial change resulting from technical change and/or omissions.
  • Overall responsible for the management of the project document and drawing control process ensuring information, drawing and document flow is logged and controlled to facilitate technical, programme and commercial control.
  • Management of the Design to Procurement coordination ensuring only assured designs are procured.
Technical Capabilities and training
  • Up to 100KV and above exposure
  • Degree in Electrical ot Mechanical Engineering or similar level of training
  • NEC project knowledge desirable
  • Engineering and design quality audits
  • National Grid (Or similar entity) registration process desireable
  • National Grid (Or similar) transmission procedures - Technical specifications, guidance notes, design handbooks desirable
Desirable
  • Circa 5+ years as an Engineering Manager
  • Power / Substation experience
  • Direct delivery, one team approach with supply chain, engineering teams, project teams and client
  • Ideally should be a Chartered Electrical/Mechanical Engineer registered with IET
  • Leadership Qualities with good interpersonal and communication skills with an understanding of the importance of constructive and supporting relationships
