Selwood Housing - Chair of Asset & Development Committee

Trowbridge, Wiltshire - this is a Hybrid and flexible role
Renumeration - £6790 per annum + travel expenses

Time commitment - Four Board and four committee meetings per year plus two away days. Currently, 50% of the meetings are in person and 50% are online.

Selwood Housing provides local, affordable homes. Their purpose is to develop, manage and maintain quality affordable housing and provide support services for the benefit of people in housing need.

They own and manage over 7,000 homes for rent and shared ownership in the southwest and are growing. Their ambition is to build 1,700 more affordable homes by 2034, to help tackle the housing crisis. As a charity, their surplus is reinvested into new homes, their existing properties and into their communities.

They are now seeking a new Chair of their Asset & Development Committee. The Chair will bring key leadership to this Committee, ensuring it functions effectively and efficiently and will play a crucial role in guiding the committee’s deliberations, aligning its activities with the strategic goals of the organisation, and ensuring that decisions are made with appropriate oversight, transparency, and accountability.

The Chair will serve as the primary point of contact between the Committee and the Board of Directors, ensuring effective communication with the CEO, Senior Executives, and External Stakeholders when necessary. The role will provide strategic guidance to ensure the committee addresses key risks, opportunities, and performance issues related to its area of responsibility (e.g., audit, governance, finance, risk).

We are seeking candidates who have had experience of being a Nonexecutive Director or Chair within social housing, property development, asset management, charity or a similar highly regulated area.

This is an exciting time to join them as they look ahead to invest further into their homes, prioritising those areas that they know are most important to their customers, such as repairs, safety, and environmental efficiency. And with a current pipeline of 300 new homes, they can deliver more affordable homes for local people.

Company

At Selwood Housing, we provide local, affordable homes.

We own and manage over 7,000 homes for rent and shared ownership in the south west and are growing. Our ambition is to build 1,700 more affordable homes by 2034, to help tackle the housing crisis. As a charity, our surplus is reinvested into new homes, our existing properties and into our communities.

We have been a vital part of our communities for over 30 years and know the difference a stable home can make. Affordable, safe, secure homes give people a foundation on which to build their lives. The range of homes we provide, from rented to shared ownership, sheltered accommodation and care homes means we help many local people.

We believe that being truly local makes us different. Our team is made up of 300 local people who really get to know our customers and are passionate about helping them. By listening to what our customers say, we are continually improving our services.

Put simply, we are here to play our part in solving the UK's housing crisis, as a long-term partner and investor in our communities.
