About the role:
FT Professional is an integral part of the fast growing Financial Times Digital Subscriptions business through licensing FT content to organisations around the world, with clients across corporate, finance, government, professional services, education and media sectors.
The Management Accountant will be reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner in the UK. This role will provide key management accounting to all financial processes, reporting and business modelling. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to gain experience working in a high-profile digital business that requires strong financial support in order to meet their goals and targets.
Responsibilities:
- Timely submission of weekly and monthly FT Professional Metrics to key stakeholders in the UK Finance Team for distribution to the FT Board Directors and a wider company-based audience.
- Understanding of and responding to business queries arising from financial reporting, client invoicing, sales commission and expense management.
- Support in preparing timely and accurate regular forecasts for revenue and costs.
- Timely and accurate month end processing and reporting of FT Professional revenues & costs (including Adhoc Syndication, T&E, marketing, commission, professional fees, technology costs and consolidated payroll files) and variance analysis as required by key stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other colleagues across Commercial Finance and Accounting Services to manage the transfer and completeness of monthly costs and revenues
- Preparation of aggregator fee files & invoices for channels and timely response to any follow-up queries
- Monthly headcount & payroll loads, checks & amendments for FT Professional.
- Issuance of royalty invoices and recharges for shared resources with other group entities.
- Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations and submission of audit data.
- Contribution of ideas to help streamline our processes and develop our reporting to the business.
- Responsible for distributing expense trackers to budget owners on a monthly basis, highlighting areas requiring attention to ensure budget efficiency
- Maintain sufficient approval rights for budget holdersAd hoc analysis and reporting as required by the Senior Finance Business Partner and wider Finance team
Qualifications:
- Proficient in advanced MS Excel functions, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Fluent in English (both verbal and written), with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly across diverse global audiences.
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable handling and interpreting large financial datasets.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and setting priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional attention to detail, consistently maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality in all work.
- Proactive and customer-focused, with the ability to understand client needs and take initiative to resolve issues.
- Experience with Google suite, Oracle or Essbase would be an advantage.
- A commercial awareness and interest in sales / customer-facing function and the subscription business model.
